Dina and Annie
Featured speakers: Brenda Coomber, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., Biomedical Sciences, Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, and Co-Director, University of Guelph Institute for Comparative Cancer Investigation, and Paul Woods, D.V.M., M.Sc., Diplomate ACVIM (Internal Medicine, Oncology), Department of Clinical Studies at the Ontario Veterinary College, and Co-Director, University of Guelph Institute for Comparative Cancer Investigation. They presented an overview of some of the recent advances in cancer discovery and the limitations in translating research from mouse to man. Naturally occurring tumours in cats and dogs are often very similar to human disease, and are therefore a superior model for cancer. The University of Guelph Institute for Comparative Cancer Investigation works to maximize our understanding of cancer in both people and pets, providing a unique opportunity for improved prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer.

Dina and her Golden Retriever Annie attended the CIBC Run for the Cure in Victoria BC, an important annual fundraiser for breast cancer research, with samples in hand.
Sharon Tiffin, a photographer for the Victoria News Group, took this picture of Dina feeding an Endless Pawsibility biscuit to a "pink" schnauzer. We appreciate Sharon's permission to share her photo with you here. It certainly looks like this tutu-clad dog really enjoyed this healthy treat!
